I'm psyched to run a pirate campaign. This will be less realistic and more of a Pirates of the Caribbean type feel, and Savage Worlds is the perfect system for this sort of thing. Player Characters in Savage Worlds are all a special sort of person known as a Wildcard. Think of it like a movie, you have the important characters (the Wildcards) and the rest of the people are Extras. Wildcards can be much tougher, smarter, and more skillful than Extras. And in Savage Worlds there are no set "classes" like in D&D. Instead you can build your own character, feat by feat, skill by skill, however you like!
in this campaign, Players will each have a "special" element to their backstory, like crewing on a legendary pirate's ship, or making a deal with a supernatural entity, and Players will gain a certain power or magical item based on that encounter. Don't worry, I've written a list of 20 examples of each which you can choose from! But don't get me wrong, this isn't a "high magic" setting, it's just that the PCs are special ;)
I've been developing a homebrew world called A Prayer for Armistice for the past few years and I'm excited to share it with everyone!

The Queen of Concordia is the “bride of God”, the mother of the empire. Traditionally, every Concordian Queen gives birth to one princess, her heir. The conception of this child is the one and only time that a Queen is allowed to lay with a man. This man is specifically a Lector of the Lectorate, the religious authority of the land, chosen by the Council as the Godsire of the child. It is believed that the Lectors carry the Godseed and they are responsible for spreading it through the royal lineage.
But one year ago the Queen gave birth to a son. This anomaly has plunged the realm into war and chaos. The Queen quickly denounced her son and declared one of her beloved consorts to be her heir.
The High Marches to the North, long time restless vassal to Concordia, orchestrated a traitorous conspiracy within the Queen’s court and kidnapped the young prince and spirited him away to newly seceded High Marches, where he is called “The First King” and represents a return to the ancient ways of the pre-Ascarian kingdom.
The Lectorate reacted “poorly” to the news of the Queen’s offspring. They renounced the Concordian throne as the seat of a harlot and declared a fiery crusade to purify the realm from corruption and non-belief. The Lectorate peninsula is lit nightly by the cleaning fires of heretics burning at the stake.
The powerful and far reaching Guild has distanced itself from the fighting on the mainland and from the Concordia, focusing on protecting its fleet of galleys and other trading vessels. But without support from the mainland, the Guild's unbreakable grip on the Inner Sea has been shattered.
The remaining Pirate Lords have been gathering power in secret since their defeat 46 years ago at the hands of a united Concordia. With the world at war and the Guild seriously weakened, the time is ripe for Piracy!
(Yes I have a lot more lore you can read if you'd like, lol)
Hmm ... I wanted to sign Jarvie and Giles up for this but there are not dates available for booking it. If it runs again how about a Friday or a Saturday?
Have fun!! I have another Savage Worlds game I am a part of at the same time, and so won't be able to join you, but this looks and sounds amazing.
